Waterproof & Insulated Apparel

Proper Care

Proper care helps maintain the waterproof, breathable, and insulating

performance of your Norfin gear for many seasons. Following these

recommendations will maximize the life and performance of your apparel.

Washing

• Hand wash or machine wash in cold water (maximum 30°C / 86°F).

• Use a gentle or delicate cycle.

• Close all zippers, snaps, and Velcro® closures before washing.

• Wash with a technical outerwear detergent or a mild liquid detergent.

• Do not use fabric softeners, bleach, stain removers, or harsh chemicals.

Drying

• Air drying is recommended whenever possible.

• If needed, tumble dry on low heat according to the garment's care label.

• Never dry garments on high heat or place them directly on heaters, radiators,

or open flames.

General Care Tips

• Wash only when necessary (typically 1–2 washes per season).

• Spot clean between washes whenever possible (wipe away fish slime, blood,

mud, and dirt as soon as practical before they dry into the fabric.)

• Allow garments to dry completely before storing.

• Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

• Avoid prolonged compression during storage.

Restoring Water Repellency

If water no longer beads on the surface, apply a quality wash-in or spray-on

Durable Water Repellent (DWR) treatment designed for technical waterproof

apparel.

Cleaning Your Boots

• Remove dirt, mud, salt, and debris using clean water and a soft cloth or

sponge.

• For stubborn dirt, use mild soap and warm water.

• Avoid harsh brushes or abrasive cleaners.

• Rinse thoroughly and allow boots to air dry.

Drying Your Boots

• Remove liners.

• Allow boots and liners to air dry naturally.

• Do not place boots on radiators, heaters, fireplaces, or use heat guns.

• Do not leave boots inside a hot vehicle or premises for extended periods.

Caring for Removable Liners

• Remove liners after every use.

• Hand wash with mild detergent when needed.

• Air dry completely before reinstalling.

Odor Prevention

• Dry boots thoroughly after each use.

• Moisture inside waterproof boots is most commonly caused by perspiration

rather than water entering through the boot.

• Store in a cool, well-ventilated area.

• Use low-temperature boot dryers if desired for the liners.

• Avoid storing damp boots in enclosed spaces.

Off-Season Storage

• Clean boots thoroughly.

• Ensure boots and liners are completely dry.

• Store upright in a cool, dry location.

• Keep away from direct sunlight and excessive heat.

• Avoid placing heavy objects on top of the boots.

Ice Cleat Care

• Inspect cleats regularly.• Rinse away salt and debris.

• Keep moving parts free of dirt and ice.
